This page contains a list of parts and updates that were done to my AMX since December 1978.

My AMX was built in April 1970 and is number 19245, and was delivered to Plummer Motor Sales in Swanton Ohio in May 1970.  I prepped this Amx for it's first owner.

1971 (early 330 hp) 401 with stock bore and heads.  The engine contains a 280H Comp cam, anti pump lifters from Summit racing, 1.6 roller rockers, Cloyes double roller timing chain, Melling oil pump, Offenhauser 360 dual four barrel intake, 2-Edelbrock 1404 - 500 cfm carbs, 2-Turbonetics bonnets with Summit air filters, Duraspark distributor with MSD 6 box and a Mallory coil.  All brackets and pulleys were powder coated along with the intake manifold, power steering reservoir and the motorola alternator.  All bolts and nuts are polished stainless.  A 17 inch Summit flex fan was added to assist with the cooling. The stock fuel pump was blocked and a electronic fuel pump and filter was installed in the trunk along with the battery.

The exhaust is 2 1/2 pipe flowing through 2 Warlock racing mufflers.

69 sc/rambler t-10 trans and bellhousing with a centerforce street/strip clutch.

63 ford country squire wagon 9 inch differential with 3.00 gear. (I destroyed the Dana 20 doing a burnout)

Interior has been redone with re-stiched seats, new carpet, headliner, dash pad, the faux woodgrain was removed and hand made aluminum covers were formed. Auto meter guages replace the stock guages with a 200mph speedometer. A pillar pods have oil and water temp guages. The am/fm stereo also has a trunk mount 6 disc cd changer.

Rims are 17inch 2003 mustang with custom center caps and the tires are by KUMO (z rated).

The wiring harness has been hidden under the hood and all unnecessary holes have been filled and smoothed and the heater has been removed. 

The wipers were converted from vacuum to electric.

The headlights are crystal lens with HB4 bulbs.

A hand made cover was added from the grill to the radiator to assist in the cooling.

The front suspension was lowered using dropped spindles using a custom plate and all bushings were replaced.

Brakes were upgraded from front drum to power disc from a 71 Ambassador.

The AMX was last painted in 1988.

Fiberglass front bumper added and the front and rear bumpers were painted body color.

Just added (June 09) Race Ready Electric Exhaust cutouts to the back of the Warlock racing mufflers.


Replaced rear leaf springs and powder coated shackles and torque links and replaced all bushings.

Replaced rear valance and repainted valance and bumper.  Also repaired lowere quarter panels.

Installed new flat top master cylinder.

Installed new valve covers.

Broke the piston on #7 cylinder.  Part of the ring land broke 3 days before the AMO meet.  Will be pulling the engine the 1st of November. 

2011 - 2012 progress report

Engine is in the process of being rebuilt.  The 401 has been bored 30 over and the rotating assembly has been balanced. 

The cam is an Isky 280HL and the breakin will be done with Brad Penn 30 Breakin Oil.

The heads have been massaged and new stainless valves and new guides.  Scorpion 1.6 roller rockers along with guide plates and Trick Flow hardened pushrods, Johnson Lifters have been installed. 

A new Centerforce Dual Friction clutch will be used.

The complete rebuilt third member has been built and will now be a 3.25 with Trac Lok.

A new serpentine pulley system from Bulltear will also be installed along with a Power Master smoothed and polished alternator.

A new Griffen aluminum radiator will do the cooling duties for the 401/409.

The dyno run was a huge success and the engine pulled hard at 410 plus hp. and 465 torque.
